The goal of the BRAVISSIMO network is together with the Industry to apply novel technologies to BR signalling research and thereby to improve the understanding of hormonal plant growth control, innate immunity, signal transduction, and hormonal cross-talk in plants. The BRAVISSIMO network is comprised of scientific and technology platforms that will enable its partners to:
1) Purify affinity-tagged versions of the BR receptors in order to identify protein complexes whose individual components may not be identified using other approaches. To validate the in vivo association of novel protein components and candidate kinase targets using advanced microscopy techniques. This technologies will distinguish at receptor level which processes use the same set of coreceptors for BR-dependant and non-BR dependant processes and for the cross talk with other plant hormones;
2) Molecularly, genetically and physiologically characterize different BR downstream cellular processes including growth and vascular differentiation and to clarify how they are affected by environmental factors;
3) Use chemical and genetic modifiers of the BR signalling pathway in order to improve agricultural important crop traits in tomato and in rice;
4) Use CropDesign N.V. high throughput TraitMill phenotyping platform to examine the effects of such a modifiers in rice and the establishment of the final phenotypes; |
